East Lothian is one of [[Scotland]]'s 32 local (unitary) council areas. It lies to the east of [[Edinburgh]] and Midlothian, and to the north of [[Borders]]. The administrative capital is Haddington (and it was formerly known as Haddingtonshire).

==History==
Originally inhabited by the primitive Gadjie People, East Lothian has since been overrun successively by Teuchters, Romans, Scots, Hibees, Saxons, and Normans. The Hun, though dominant in other parts of Scotland never really achieved a proper foothold in East Lothian.
