::I don't think Mrs. Roosevelt had to engineer the Lash-Pratt marriage to protect herself, since Lash was already married to Nancy (Bedford-Jones) Lash, and had to divorce her to marry Pratt. I do think that it is likely that Pratt was maneuvered into the marriage by Aleksej Sokirkin. It wasn't until decades later that records of the Army surveillance of Lash became public. I expect that we shall have to wait at least as long to see any surveillance records of Ms. Abedin.
