:The current level of carbon dioxide in the Earth's atmosphere is 400 ppm, according to the link above. It's absurd to think that this infinitesimal portion of the atmosphere drives the climate. The Martian atmosphere is 96 percent carbon dioxide. The density of the Martian atmosphere is 0.6 percent that of Earth's. So 0.96 * 0.006 * 1000000 means Mars has the equivalent of 5,760 Earth ppm of carbon dioxide. The bottom line is that fourteen times the Earth's current level of carbon dioxide still leaves you freezing at -55° Celsius.<br/>Venus is another story, but how much carbon dioxide do they have? 0.965 * 93 * 1000000 is almost 89.7 million Earth ppm of carbon dioxide. I noticed some problems with this article. The "warming pause" idea has been debunked and I think the article should be rewritten accordingly. The satellite data is not in fact the most accurate available source of temperature data. Both of the programs used to calculate temperature trends from the satellite data have been revised multiple times over the years, and the revisions aren't peer-reviewed. The calculations involved are hugely complex and require a whole team of scientists to maintain them. The same data is fed to two teams, one called UAH and the other called RSS. The UAH and RSS teams never come up with exactly the same result. RSS version 4.0 came out in March 2016. It was a pretty drastic revision. (No more warming pause.) Here is the UAH data: "[http://www.drroyspencer.com/latest-global-temperatures/ Latest global temperatures]." Legendary warming skeptic Dr. Roy Spencer is UAH team leader. See Spencer's "[http://www.drroyspencer.com/my-global-warming-skepticism-for-dummies/ My Global Warming Skepticism, for Dummies]."<br/>The radiosonde data is clearly a better source. It comes from weather balloons and is averaged by a program called RATPAC. The raw data is online. Anyone can download it and average it for themselves. So it's not "adjustable" like the weather station data or the satellite data. Here is a discussion of RATPAC: "[http://realclimatescience.com/2016/03/noaa-radiosonde-data-shows-no-warming-for-58-years/ NOAA Radiosonde Data Shows No Warming For 58 Years]."<br/>Sadly, RATPAC goes back only to 1958. But the Earth was almost certainly warmer in various earlier eras: during the 1930s, during the Medieval Warm Period, and during the Roman Warm Period. See "[https://stevengoddard.wordpress.com/2012/08/10/a-simple-proof-that-the-1930s-were-hotter/ A simple proof that the 1930s were hotter]." What's up with 2016 being the "hottest year on record" if the 1930s were warmer? See "[http://realclimatescience.com/the-corrupt-history-of-nasa-temperature-history/ The Corrupt History Of NASA Temperature History]." In the 1970s they told us it was cooling, now it's warming -- It's whatever the politicians want to hear. [[User:PeterKa|PeterKa]] ([[User talk:PeterKa|talk]]) 04:40, 3 January 2017 (EST)
