Peter of Bruys was a Priest in the Catholic Church. He believed that crosses worn around the neck, in remembrance of Christ's Sacrifice, were a type of graven image or idol. At Saint Gilles in southern France, Bruys gathered crosses to burn them. He was seized by a mob, then bound and burned on the same pile of crosses.
