* The first performance was held at the Teatro alla Scala in Milan on April 25, 1926 and conducted by Arturo Toscanini.
* Decca produced in 1979 a fine recording of the work directed by Zubin Mehta and featuring Sutherland, Pavarotti, Caballé, Ghiaurov, Krause and the NYC Metropolitan chorus.
