Milo Yiannopoulos (born Milo Hanrahan on 18 October 1984) is a British journalist, entrepreneur, public speaker, and senior editor for Breitbart News. Despite being openly homosexual, he holds many conservative views, describing himself as a libertarian.

Yiannopoulos founded The Kernel, an online tabloid magazine about technology, which he sold to Daily Dot Media in 2014. He rose to notability that year when he began to provide media coverage and commentary surrounding the Gamergate controversy. As a cultural libertarian and free speech fundamentalist, he is a vocal critic of fourth-wave feminism, Islam, social justice, political correctness, and other movements and ideologies considered by conservatives to be authoritarian or belonging to the progressive left. He was permanently banned from Twitter in July 2016 for what the company cited as "inciting or engaging in the targeted abuse or harassment of others". In reality, he harshly criticised the movie Ghostbusters (2016,) namely criticising lead actress Leslie Jones, an African-American woman. This prompted some of Yiannopulous' followers to verbally attack Jones, and the the blame for such harsh attacks was pinned on him by Twitter and the mainstream media. Yiannopulous gained huge public notoriety after he was scheduled to speak at the University of California-Berkeley in January 2017 about the myth of culural appropriation, but had the event shut down by violent rioters who claimed to be fighting Milo's allegedly "racist" views.
