The '''Tennessee State Capitol''' typifies Greek Revival Architecture in the [[United States]], designed by William Strickland and built between 1845 and 1859. This magnificent structure became a source of pride for the southern State of Tennessee, as it joined the [[Confederacy]].

In 1920, it was a vote in this Capitol building that completed the ratification of the [[Nineteenth Amendment]], adding it to the [[United States Constitution]].

The '''Tennessee State Capitol''' is one of the few remaining antebellum capitols continuing to function for official business. It has been historically preserved in 1987 and 2012.
