|Despite being made by known Republican<ref>http://whatculture.com/offbeat/10-celebs-you-wouldnt-expect-to-be-republicans?page=4</ref> Sam Raimi, the film's premise dealt with a woman being condemned simply for doing what her job required her to do at the bank, with Raimi also implicitly stating that the gypsy who cursed her had sympathetic reasons for cursing the main protagonist despite the fact that she herself had explicitly foresaked paying mortgage three times. In addition, the means to counteract the Lamia (the creature responsible for sending people to Hell when cursed) were more explicitly Pagan than Christian.
