a good start
'''Boston Common''', also known as "the Common" sometimes mistakenly called "Boston Commons," is the oldest city park in the [[United States]], and has been the site for multiple historic marches and speeches since its founding in 1634. It is located in downtown Boston.

It was a training ground for patriot soldiers during the revolution, after the British Redcoats had encamped there for an eight-year period beginning in 1768. Independence was celebrated in this park by local-favorite [[John Adams]], and also [[George Washington]] and General Lafayette came here to celebrate our nation's independence. Anti-[[slavery]] meetings were held there in the [[Civil War]] era.

Pope [[John Paul II]] celebrated Mass there in 1979, and in the 1960s rallies were held there to protest the [[Vietnam War]] and to demand civil rights, including a rally led by the Rev.
[[Martin Luther King, Jr.]]
