The Barclays '''Premiership''' is the most prestigious of the [[English]] Football Leagues. It contains twenty teams, and after each season the bottom three are relegated and three teams from the next League (the Championship) are promoted.
It operates on a points-based system where a win counts as 3 points, a draw as 1 point and a loss as 0 points. The team with the most points at the end of the season wins; the most recent winners were [[Chelsea F.C.]]. In the event of a draw on points, goal difference is used to decide the winner.
The Premiership has attracted criticism because the vast majority of the teams stand little chance of winning; the only clubs with a realistic chance of success are Arsenal, Manchester City, Manchester United, Chelsea and Liverpool, known as the 'Big Five'.
