In 1901 the St Kilda group had a population of around 150, but the last of these were evacuated in the 1930s. There is now an [[RAF]] missile tracking station on [[Hirta]] (also called St. Kilda), the largest island of the group. Other islands in the St Kilda group are Levenish, Hamalan, Dun, Soay, Am Plastair, Soay Stac, Boreray, Stac Lee and Stac an Armin. The islands are owned by the [[National Trust for Scotland]].
