Savile (born 1926) began his career as an all-in wrestler before becoming a [[disc jockey]] in the clubs of the north of [[England]], in and around his home city of [[Leeds]]. He was an early DJ on the [[BBC]]'s [[pop music]] [[radio]] station Radio 1 and was the first presenter on BBC Television's iconic and long running show ''Top of The Pops''. From the 1970s he hosted ''Jim'll Fix It'' where he granted requests to (mainly) children; the show was revived in 2007. He was also noted for his [[charity]] work: he ran in charity marathons, and made frequent hospital visits, ostensibly to boost the morale of patients.

Towards the end of [[World War II]] he worked for some time as a coal miner, one of "Bevin's Boys". began his career as an all-in wrestler before becoming manager of a ballroom in his home city of [[Leeds]]. He was an early DJ on the [[BBC]]'s [[pop music]] [[radio]] station Radio 1 and was the first presenter on BBC Television's iconic and long running show ''Top of The Pops''. From the 1970s he hosted ''Jim'll Fix It'' where he granted requests to (mainly) children; the show was revived in 2007. Savile cultivated a comic caricature of an image, with long unkempt white hair and a large cigar always in his mouth, Groucho Marx style.

Several hospitals gave him their keys as he was such a frequent visitor and enthusiastic patron. Since his death he has been accused of being a serial sex offender against children appearing on his shows or who came into contact with him through his various charitable activities. Police investigations have revealed that during his lifetime numerous complaints of sexual abuse were mane against him, and rumors circulated, yet no charges were ever brought.

Savile mixed in the highest circles, being photographed with Prime ministers Edward Heath and Tony Blair, as well as all the leading celebrities of the media and entertainment world. Savile died on 29 October 2011.

Police investigations have revealed that during his lifetime numerous complaints of sexual abuse were made against him, and rumors circulated, yet no charges were ever brought. During the official investigation, Operation Yewtree, hundreds more allegations were brought, by girls, boys, and adult women. It has even been alleged that the reason he wanted the keys to the mortuary of the hospital was so that he could sexually abuse dead patients.  

Savile posed as being a celibate or just an enigma. He was actually  bisexual but this has been covered up or denied by the LGBT media. His homosexual relationship with another prolific child-abuser, Peter Jaconelli, was known to the police but not revealed until 2016. There are photographs of the two of them together.
