Cloning and a Common X Chromosome
records that God made a woman out of one of Adam's ribs.  Secular scientists did not believe that cloning such a complex organism (apart from plants) was possible until 1997. It should be noted, however, that this is not strictly 'cloning' as a clone would be identical to its original, most obviously in terms of its sex. Women can be cloned from the genetic material of men, but not the other way around, since women lack a Y chromosome. Women have the same X chromosome as men, but this was not discovered until the late 1800s. The Book of Genesis explained this thousands years earlier, describing how the first woman was created directly from man.

The Book of Genesis explained this thousands years earlier, describing how the first woman was created directly from man. While a clone of a person is their genetic duplicate, equivalent to an identical twin, the risks of inbreeding had not yet arisen, since God created DNA perfectly and it only degraded later (see Cain for more details). Because of this, the divine commandments against inbreeding (in the next section) had not yet been given.
