::::Christ is God the Son, so surely his understanding of God's Word is perfect (and does not need to depend upon a literal interpretation of scripture). *No, not if "fundamentalist" means "Bible literalist." The Ten Commandments includes "the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work." In Luke 2:23-27, "And it came to pass, that he went through the corn fields on the sabbath day; and his disciples began, as they went, to pluck the ears of corn. And the Pharisees said unto him, Behold, why do they on the sabbath day that which is not lawful?" The Pharisees are interpreting the Bible literally. Jesus replies "The sabbath was made for man, and not man for the sabbath," and gives reasons for honoring the spirit, rather than the exact letter of the Ten Commandments.
