Sesame Street has been accused of having a liberal bias and criticized for encouraging children to watch television. The characters Bert and Ernie are often recognized as a homosexual couple, as they live in the same house and share clothing and a bedroom<ref>[http://www.northernstar.info/articles/?id=989 Homosexual Themes corrupt Sesame Street]</ref>. However, PBS has repeatedly denied this <ref>[http://www.snopes.com/radiotv/tv/gaymupp.htm Urban Legends]</ref>. Other Christian groups have criticized the portrayal of Cookie Monster, who tempts children with cookies in order to get them to perform sexual favors.
