Since his death he has been accused of being a serial sex offender against children who appeared on his shows or who came into contact with him through his various charitable activities. Police investigations have revealed that during his lifetime numerous complaints of sexual abuse were made against him, and rumors circulated, yet no charges were ever brought. During the official investigation, Operation Yewtree, hundreds more allegations were brought, by girls, boys, and adult women. It has even been alleged that the reason he wanted the keys to the mortuary of the hospital was so that he could sexually abuse dead patients.
