[[Walt Disney]] adapted the novel in an animated movie, named after the character, that was released in 1942. The storyline follows Bambi from the time of his birth to the birth of his fawns. It has been criticized for its anti-gun message, as Bambi's mother is famously shot dead by a hunter.
