'''Hallmark Channel''' is a cable television network owned by Crown Media Holdings, a subsidiary of greeting card company [[Hallmark]].

Originally founded in 1993 as a satellite sharing arrangement between two religious networks, Hallmark began investing in the company, ultimately taking full control (and rebranding it) in 2001.

Though Hallmark removed the religious programming from the network, it maintained a family-friendly approach to programming (going so far as to remove even mild pejorative words from its broadcasting). It is best known (along with sister network [[Hallmark Movies & Mysteries Channel]]) for its near endless supply of holiday-oriented films, especially [[Christmas film]]s.
