[[Creation scientists]] haven't yet figured what came first: the [[chicken]] or the egg. This is known as the [[creation conundrum]]. [[Evolutionists]] maintain that the egg must have come first, since, a true chicken can only hatch from a true chicken egg, but two parent birds which were not quite 'genetically' chickens can in theory have fertilised and laid it, and given rise to the first true chicken. How one defines what is genetically a true chicken and what is not quite a chicken is, of course, open for debate.
