I don't know of any way to ''automatically'' include the poster's signature. There may be; I'm not ''that'' much of an expert on these things, but I suspect not. Ed Poor might know.
What was wrong with the appearance of the box that the {{tl|clear}} was needed? It always looked okay to me, and doesn't look any different (in that respect) than before. I use IE, so perhaps it was a problem in another browser? Anyway, I'm just curious to know what the problem actually was.
