The '''Tooth Fairy''' is a fictional [[fairy]] that puts [[money]] under young children's pillows after they lose a tooth. Similarly to [[Santa Claus]], the [[Easter Bunny]], and the [[Sandman]], the Tooth Fairy was brought to the [[United states]] from [[German]]-speaking countries, the [[Low Countries]], and [[Scandinavia]]. Tooth Fairy legends also exist in the [[British Isles]], much like legends of the other three aforementioned characters. In [[French]]-speaking countries and regions, [[Italy]], [[Spain]], [[Portugal]], [[Latin America]], the [[Balkans]], and [[Eastern Europe]], they alternatively have a mythical [[mouse]] who does the same thing as the Tooth Fairy (rewarding children with money after losing their teeth). Many countries in the [[Middle East]], [[Africa]], the [[Indian subcontinent]], and [[Asia]] ave entirely different practices when it comes to children losing teeth, often not involving any mythical creature.
