Aguillard is a former member of the rural Philadelphia Baptist Church in Deville in eastern Rapides Parish, rather than the First Baptist Church of Pineville, at which many LC personnel are members. Several of his fellow church members called for a "prayer walk" for Louisiana College on March 29, 2014, amid the buildup of opposition to Aguillard'spresidency.<ref>{{cite web|url=http://www.shreveporttimes.com/article/20140327/NEWS0402/303270015/Members-Joe-Aguillard-s-church-call-prayers-Louisiana-College|author=Leigh Guidry of Gannett Press|title=Members of Joe Aguillard's church call for prayers for Louisiana College, March 26, 2014|publisher=''The Shreveport Times''|accessdate=March 27, 2014}}</ref>
