Is is really necessary to have this quote in its entirity or for it to be quite as prominent as it is? Considering all the other things (Communism, extramarital sex, murder/abortion, etc.) which Gandhi certainly spoke out against in his life why single out Christianity and Christians in particular as something he disapproved of? I think it's in danger of giving an anti-Christian gloss to the article which could mislead and which could be quoted against Christianity in the future. I would suggest either removing the second half of the quote to balance it more fairly, or if that's not possible perhaps remove it entirely until a better balance can be struck with this article as a whole. --[[User:GSmiley|GSmiley]] 19:43, 12 May 2007 (EDT)

:I think the quotation belongs. It's very famous. It's not anti-Christian, it's a comment on what he saw as the hypocrisy of many who label themselves as Christian. And it's a fair indication of how he regarded the British.
:The big problem with the quotation is that although it appears in numerous places on the Web, none of them gives a very good source. The best I've been able to find so far says he said it in an interview with E. Stanley Jones, a Methodist missionary who became friends with Gandhi early on. Jones wrote a 1948 book entitled ''Mahatma Gandhi: An Interpretation'' but it's not clear whether the quotation is from that book. I'm pretty sure it's a ''line'' in the screenplay of the Ben Kingsley movie.
