In 2019 CBS Denver reported that business owner whose property is adjacent to an an ally where homeless people, prostitutes and drug addicts hang out was fined for not cleaning up urine, feces, and discarded hypodermic needles, despite his calls to police and the city to enforce trespassing laws, which the city refused. The business owner employs internet communications workers, and argues his employees are neither trained nor equipped to clean up human waste and hazardous materials.<ref>https://hotair.com/archives/jazz-shaw/2019/11/12/denver-business-fined-not-picking-peoples-poop/</ref> If the business were to hire outside contractors to clean up the mess left by the unfortunate and destitute, it would of course impact the wage scales and benefits an employer can afford to pay workers.
