== Fundamentalism vs. evangelicalism ==

If you are emphasizing anti-Darwinism and anti-modernism, you call conservative Protestants "fundamentalists." If you are emphasizing adherence to the gospels and to the Great Commandment, you call them "evangelical." But it is basically the same group of people. When Billy Graham started having fellowship with Catholics in the 1950s, a group of preachers led by John Rice objected. In the context of this controversy, Graham was evangelical and Rice was fundamentalist. In the late 1970s, Rice protege Jerry Falwell forged a "religious right" coalition of politically conservative Protestants and Catholics. So fellowship with Catholics has not been an issue in a long time. [[User:PeterKa|PeterKa]] ([[User talk:PeterKa|talk]]) 22:44, 14 January 2020 (EST)
