Hey all. I just created a redirect page to this one titled [[CP:IUR]] that directly redirects to this one. I did this in order to make it easier for users to access this page, or just plainly easier and faster to type (it took me a while to remember 'Image upload requests'). Hi folks,<br />
as you've probably seen, we seem to have a constant backlog of upload requests. In a way, that's a good sign--you folks are working to make high-quality articles with graphics included. However, I am not keeping up with these requests. This is in large part due to the fact that many of the images being requested are not freely available for reuse. This means I must spend time trying to find who created the image requested, and finding their copyright terms. I end up unhappy because I'm making little progress and wasting time, while you are unhappy at needing to wait so long. Additionally, this impacts even those who request images which are clearly free to use, because I am working through the list in the order they were requested.<br />
It would be greatly appreciated if you would try to request images from sources which clearly define favorable licensing terms (Public Domain is best, but Creative Commons licenses are also great). '''I am also considering starting to upload such freely available images first, regardless of the order in which they were received.''' This way I can get these quick requests done before getting bogged down in researching the legal status of the other requested images which are under copyright. This way, those who are requesting such images don't get stuck waiting weeks, or even months, while I work through the difficult requests before them. This possibility was discussed before, but I welcome input.<br />
