==U.S. Senate==
Smith was appointed by [[Minnesota]] governor [[Mark Dayton]] to replace the disgraced now-former senator [[Al Franken]].<ref>[https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/abortion-lobbyist-tina-smith-of-planned-parenthood-appointed-to-replace-al-franken-in-the-us-senate Abortion lobbyist Tina Smith of Planned Parenthood appointed to replace Al Franken in the US Senate]</ref>
==Political views==
A left-wing [[progressive]], Smith is [[pro-abortion]], opposes the U.S. alliance with [[Israel]], and thinks that taxing rich people will fix problems.<ref>[https://www.ontheissues.org/Senate/Tina_Smith.htm Tina Smith on the Issues]</ref> In addition, she supports totalitarian policies from [[gun control]] to keeping the [[Obamacare]] mandate. Smith's foreign policy is arguably even worse, given her support for the [[Iran nuclear deal]].
