WrestleMania is a pay-per-view program produced by World Wrestling Entertainment. It is the company's biggest show of the year, and is said to be the equivalent of a Super Bowl/World Series for professional wrestling.  It was often compared to Starrcade, which was considered the premier event for National Wrestling Alliance flagship Jim Crockett Promotions, later World Championship Wrestling.  Starrcade began in 1983, two years before WrestleMania.  The event is held around March or April.  WrestleMania 22 was the last to be held in an arena.  All subsequent WrestleMania events have been held in stadiums.  The record attendance claimed by WWE for a WrestleMania was in 1987 at WrestleMania III, which boasted a 93,173 number.  However, numerous sources, such as Dave Meltzer, have reported that WrestleMania III's attendance number was actually 78,000.  Regardless, WrestleMania III's official record would stand for 29 years, before being broken at WrestleMania 32, which claimed a record of 101,763 (but was revealed by Meltzer to actually be a paid attendance of 93,730).  WrestleMania 35 featured the first Women's Main Event.

The Undefeated Streak of The Undertaker
The Undefeated Streak of The Undertaker
WrestleMania is also known for The Undertaker's "undefeated streak".  The Steak would not be recognized until WrestleMania X-Seven, when it was realized that the Undertaker had never lost at the event.  It started at WrestleMania VII when he beat Jimmy Snuka.  For the next 23 years, the Undertaker would "win" 21 times at WrestleMania (The Undertaker did not compete at WrestleMania X in 1994, or at WrestleMania 2000, in both cases due to a legitimate injury).  The Streak ended at WrestleMania XXX, when the Undertaker lost to Brock Lesnar.  Despite his loss at WrestleMania XXX, The Undertaker would continue to have match for the next three WrestleManias, winning matches at WrestleMania 31 and 32 against Bray Wyatt and Shane McMahon, respectively.  At WrestleMania 33, The Undertaker experienced his second loss at the event when he lost to Roman Reigns.  Due to the end of the match, many have speculated that he has retired.  However, it should be noted that "retirements" are common in professional wrestling when a performer has chosen to cut back on his schedule and compete only in major events.

WrestleMania 36 and the 2019-2020 COVID-19 Pandemic
Impact of COVID-19
On March 16, 2020, WWE announced that WrestleMania 36 would not take place at the Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, FL.  Instead, it will take place at the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, FL.  This will be the first WrestleMania since WrestleMania 22 to not take place in a stadium setting, as well as the first in the event's history to be in an empty arena.

On March 13, 2020, WWE would begin taping its shows at the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Florida.  Three days later, on March 16, 2020, WWE announced that WrestleMania 36 would not take place at the Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida.  It was moved to the Performance Center and had no fans in attendance due to the pandemic.  The event took place over two nights, April 4 and April 5, 2020, which marks the first time in the events history in which this has happened.  The event was also pre-taped.  Originally, WrestleMania 37 was to take place in Inglewood, California.  However, due to the pandemic, it was moved to Tampa.  Inglewood hosted WrestleMania 39 in 2023.
