British Concentration Camps were commonly used throughout the British Empire to persecute various peoples in their colonies.
==India==
During the British colonial period in India, "Relief Camps"(in reality Concentration Camps) were set up during Famines. Viceroy Lytton's deputy, Richard Temple, was selected to run these Concentration Camps. Temple was under orders to ensure that there was no "unnecessary" expenditure on relief works. Starving Indians who reached these camps were made to do backbreaking labor in exchange for only 16 ounces of rice per day, less than the diet for inmates at the Buchenwald Concentration Camp for the Jews in Nazi Germany. <ref>https://books.google.com/books?id=2LjYUY3LHkoC&pg=PA37&lpg=PA37&dq=it+was+%E2%80%9Ca+mistake+to+spend+so+much+money+to+save+a+lot+of+black+fellows.%E2%80%9D%5Bi%5D&source=bl&ots=VONogFwcp0&sig=ACfU3U1CKFPQ9qz_xvhD3bzd8FfbmsTdng&hl=en&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwiWm-C-wsjoAhUxmuAKHePrAywQ6AEwAnoECAgQLg#v=onepage&q=it%20was%20%E2%80%9Ca%20mistake%20to%20spend%20so%20much%20money%20to%20save%20a%20lot%20of%20black%20fellows.%E2%80%9D%5Bi%5D&f=false</ref>
