update for current info
The Royals have been based in [[Kauffman Stadium]] since 1973, although Kauffman Stadium was named "Royals Stadium" until 1993. Previously, they were based in [[Municipal Stadium]]. Kauffman Stadium is located in the Truman Sports Complex, standing next to Arrowhead Stadium, home of the [[Kansas City Chiefs]].

The Royals went to the [[World Series]] in [[1980 World Series|1980]], where they were defeated 4-2 by the [[Philadephia Phillies]], and in [[1985 World Series|1985]], where they defeated the [[St. Louis Cardinals]] 4-3 in what was known as the "Show-Me Series" (after the Missouri state motto). However, the team has not returned to the playoffs since.
The Royals have won four American League pennants (1980, 1985, 2014, and 2015), winning the World Series twice (in 1985 where they defeated their in-state rival [[St. Louis Cardinals]] 4-3 in what was known as the "Show-Me Series" and notable for a controversial blown call against the Cardinals in Game 6) and in 2015 (defeating the [[New York Mets]] 4-1).
