It is [[fake news]], [[Hollywood]]-style. Its false theme is that Phyllis was trying to succeed in a man's world and did not realize how it was discriminating against her too.  Cate Blanchett portrays Phyllis as powerful but cold and condescending, unlike the real Phyllis.

Its acting is superb, but its script is more stereotypical than factual. Its theme is that Phyllis was trying to succeed in a man's world and did not realize how it was discriminating against her too.  Cate Blanchett portrays Phyllis as powerful but cold and condescending, unlike the real Phyllis.

While pretending to be factual, the script has a role for entirely fictional character named "Alice", portrayed as a (non-existent) best friend of Phyllis.<ref>https://www.denofgeek.com/us/tv/fx/281134/mrs-america-cate-blanchett-cast-release-date-news</ref>  The role of Alice is to recite false statements designed to improperly create an impression that Phyllis said or agreed with the falsehoods, when she did not.
