The proposal for a '''Roosevelt dictatorship''' was raised as a hypothetical several months prior to the election of [[FDR]] as President in 1933. Several influential members of the media were responsible for the initial discussions, and one month before inauguration Speaker [[John Nance Garner]] introduced a bill to give the President unilateral authority.
