Some churches teach that miscegenation is contrary to the will of God, as clearly expressed in the Bible.  Others downplay its prohibition in Scripture, but counsel against it for pragmatic reasons, pointing to harmful effects on both spouses, and especially on the children.  Despite these Scriptural and pragmatic considerations, other Churches accept it, or even encourage it.
