Carrier owns businesses, Service Office Centre/Teacher's Pet in Crowley in Acadia Parish and Oakdale in Allen Parish. From 1993 to 2005, he was the mayor pro tempore of Oberlin, the Allen Parish seat of government. From 2016 to 2017, he was the president of the Oakdale Rotary Club.
