Here is an example.  Suppose that you are driving down the street in your town.  A group of rioters from the city suddenly surrounds your car, pounding on the hood, chanting profanities, and making sexual threats against your wife and daughters.  In fear, you attempt to escape, by driving away, while the rioters foolishly jump in front of your car.

A liberal trial attorney convinces the rioters to sue you for negligence, but you have the good fortune to be represented by a Christian attorney, who points out that even if you were at any fault for the rioters' injuries, the rioters were at fault for jumping in front of your car.  The rioters' liberal lawyer tries to argue that you had the "last clear chance" to avoid the accident, or some such balderdash, but the judge, a clear-headed legal thinker, will have none of it, finding that the accident would not have occurred but for the rioters' negligence.

Hence, the right result is reached under the doctrine of Contributory negligence: Plaintiff is not liable, and the liberal lawyer is foiled again.
