Virginia Dare was born in August of 1587 in the Roanoake Island colony. She was the first English child to be born in the New World, to Ananias Dare and his wife, Elinor (Eleanor) White. With the  disappearance of the Roanoke colony, Virginia's life, as well as the date of her death, remain a mystery.
