:Melodie, this looks quite good.  I can only think that the article was locked because somebody had their own preconceived ideas about what a witch is and refused to listen to new editors.  Anyway that is none of my concern.  I don't know how qualified you are to comment but some of the dogmatic thought about witches might stem, from the KJV quotes in the article.  The KJV version was written when there was a lot of hysteria about witches anyway so the translation may just reflect the prejudices of the time, and if not, it may certainly be couched in the language of the period. I would be interested in knowing the original Biblical passages with explanations of the translation from a scholar in Aramaic/Hebrew or what ever language this was first written in, as the term witch might have a different meaning from the current Halloween stereotype.
