In December 2020 a former Green Beret and Republican congressional candidate was contacted by the [[Department of Homeland Security]] (DHS) and FBI Joint Terrorism Task Force (JTTF). The Green Beret released video surveillance of the FBI contacting him at his home and an audio recording made at a local restaurant of his actual meeting with the FBI. Federal agents attempted to recruit him to spy on patriots and everyday Americans. The lead was provided directly to the FBI by Facebaook.<ref>https://freedomjournalist.com/fbi-dhs-attempted-to-recruit-military-to-infiltrate-rioters-before-jan-6/</ref>
