→Images from Wikimedia Commons: Not possible
I just noticed I can make a ''link'' to an image on Wikimedia Commons by using the form <nowiki>[[commons:image:Northwest passage.jpg|Northwest Passage routes]]</nowiki> which gives a working link [[commons:image:Northwest passage.jpg|Northwest Passage routes]] but I can't work out how I can actually embed the image in the [[Northwest Passage]] page instead of linking to it. Any ideas? --[[User:Scott|Scott]] 10:04, 26 May 2007 (EDT)

:It appears that this is not possible. From [http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Commons:First_steps/Reuse here] (my emphasis):
{{QuoteBox|In general, to embed a Wikimedia Commons media file in '''Wikipedia or another Wikimedia wiki''', just include it in the same way as if it were to be stored locally there.}}
:"Wikimedia" wikis are Wikipedia in its various languages, Wiktionary, etc. It does not include all sites using wiki software. But in the future this might change (my emphasis again):
{{QuoteBox|There is a proposal to allow '''non-Wikimedia wikis''' to easily access Commons material - meta:InstantCommons. This feature does not yet exist, so at the moment files must be separately uploaded to other wikis.}}
:However, as indicated in that last quote, taking a copy of a picture there and uploading it to Conservapedia ''is'' allowed:
{{QuoteBox|You are always welcome to download files you are interested in for reuse as long as you follow the license conditions provided alongside the files.}}.
