Regionalism is intentionally devoid of any European influence.
'''Regionalism''' was a new movement in art during the [[Great Depression]] in the [[Midwest]], developed by [[Grant Wood]] (1891-1942) and including Thomas Hart Benton (1889-1975).

Grant Wood's painting the ''[[American Gothic]]'' is considered to be America's most famous work of art and is the leading example of Regionalism. It depicts the reality of a determined farmer, and captures his spirit.

Regionalism is intentionally devoid of any [[European]] influence.
