'''Tommy Hitchcock''' (Jr.) (d.1944) is considered the greatest polo player of all-time, who thrived during its golden era prior to [[World War II]]. He was also the inspiration for the oafish Tom Buchanan in ''[[The Great Gatsby]]]''.

Hitchcock was more aggressive than others in the traditionally gentlemanly sport of polo, often using a charging maneuver that is penalized today.<ref>https://www.acontinuouslean.com/2014/07/01/tommy-hitchcock-golden-age-american-polo/</ref>
