Lincoln also included religious statements in the famous [[Gettysburg Address]], which included the phrase "under God," and was used as support for adding the same phrase to the [[Pledge of Allegiance]].
Despite all this, rumors still circulate. Many Christians believe that he was a strong Christian, while some others disagree. Still another opinion is that he converted to Christianity during his time in office. Evidence for this opinion comes from two clergymen who claimed that he had made a secret trip from Washington to be baptized while in office, and a Roman Catholic Priest who said that Lincoln received the sacrament of baptism in secret. Neither of these claims have any proof in White House records or his personal diary.<ref> [[God and the Oval Office]], by John C. McCollister, W Publishing, 2005. </ref>
