'''North Port''' is a city in [[Florida]], on the Gulf Coast.
Originally named ''North Port Charlotte'' (to distinguish itself from neighboring '''Port Charlotte'''), the citizens dropped the Charlotte portion of the name in 1974.
The [[Atlanta Braves]] have their Spring Training facility in North Port. Other notable places of interest are Warm Mineral Springs (a notable artesian spring, with a nearby motel which is on the National Register of Historic Places), Little Salt Spring, and Myakkahatchee Creek Environmental Park.
