Socrates was an ancient [[Greek]] conservative philosopher, who lived between approximately 470 and 399 BC. He is best known for his method of argument, where you wear your opponent down with quibbling objections until they give up in disgust. Socrates had served in the army in his youth, like all Greek men of his time. He was also a strong proponent of Greek love (aka Teh Gay) and democracy.  To modern readers he is most familiar as a character in many books by his disciple [[Plato]].  Eventually the tyrannical government of Athens found him guilty of corrupting young boys, and forced him to drink hemlock.
