The [[German]] battleship '''Bismarck''' was one of the largest and most powerful ships the world had ever seen. It was in service during [[World War II]]. Commanded by Admiral Günther Lütjens, it is famous for sinking the [[HMS Hood]], the pride of [[Britain]]'s Royal Navy, in the [[Battle of the Denmark Strait]]. Pursued by dozens of British and [[Poland|Polish]] ships, it was finally sunk by the collective efforts of the HMS King George V, HMS Rodney, and others. The ship was named after Chansellor [[Otto von Bismarck]], who unified the German states in the 1800s.
