The '''Battle of the Denmark Strait''' was one of history's most famous naval battles. During [[World War II]], the [[German]] [[battleship Bismarck]] was attempting to break out into the [[Atlantic Ocean]] during her first sortie. She was met by the [[HMS Hood]] and [[HMS Price of Wales]] in the Denmark Strait. After some twenty minutes of exchanging salvoes, the Hood, the pride of the [[British]] navy, was blown up. The Prince of Wales was badly damaged, and withdrew. The Bismarck would later be pursued by several British ships, and sunk around a week later.
