On Friday, March 2nd, 2007, speaking to the Conservative Political Action Conference, she said:
:I was going to have a few comments on the other Democratic presidential candidate John Edwards, but it turns out you have to go into rehab if you use the word '[slur for homosexual]' so I ... can't really talk about Edwards."
Amy Ridenour, president of one of the conservative groups funding the conference, commented:
