The defense budget is too high these days, I don't see why it needs to be raised at all. If anything it needs to be lowered by a lot. So yeah, voting for raising it should arouse suspicion about a GOP member being a warmonger. Also McCarthy literally walked into Biden's SOTU with a Ukraine flag on his clothes. And he was known as an establishment Republican long before that.
