The prosecutor's office submitted to the Jerusalem District Court an indictment against three residents of East Jerusalem - Omar Jaber (25), Ashraf Jaber (24) and Yousef Jaber (18), for involvement in the lynching of Aviyah Antman shortly after he proposed marriage to his daughter  His wife in Beit HaChoshen in the A-Tor neighborhood.

The incident took place on the eve of Jerusalem Day, the day before the start of Operation "Guardian of the Walls".  According to the indictment, after the marriage proposal, the couple continued driving towards the Beit Orot neighborhood.  Around eight o'clock in the evening, at the A-Tor intersection, some rioters recognized that they were Jews and started running after the vehicle while shouting "Settler, you son of a b#tch."

The three defendants, who were driving in front of the couple's vehicle, heard the screams and realized that they were Jews.  The accused Omar, who was driving the car, suddenly braked and blocked the couple's car to prevent their continued journey.  The rioters started throwing stones at the couple while they were inside the vehicle, breaking its rear window.  At some point her father got out of the vehicle and was caught by the rioters, who beat him in all parts of his body while he was lying on the floor, and were joined by the defendants Omar and Yousef.  At the same time Shahar also escaped from the vehicle, hid behind another vehicle and called the police.  During the incident, her father was beaten using a police barrier, sticks, a sharp object and even a full can of Excel hit his head.  This is in addition to the slaps, punches and kicks he received in all parts of his body.  The accused Ashraf stayed in the car during the incident, and later got into the driver's seat and moved it.

Finally Aviyah managed to escape from the rioters and return to his car.  So he drove to the nearby Beit Orot neighborhood and called the police. As a result of the attack, he suffered many bruises and two stab wounds to his back. He was hospitalized for five days and underwent surgery.

The three are accused of a terrorist act of aggravated malicious wounding, rioting and willfully damaging a vehicle with a racial motive.  Their detention was extended until the end of the proceedings against them.</font></blockquote></ref> group: May 9 lynching minutes a young man after he proposed to his fiancee, and attemoted arson targeting Jews on May 11, all: "for ideological-nationalist motives because they were Jews."<ref>M. Judge Noam Solberg increased the prison sentences of the two terrorists who attacked the couple and stated: "The day they slept - like a step would have been their disaster."
 +
The Supreme Court accepted the state's appeal and aggravated the punishment of two terrorists who committed a series of disturbances and attacks on the security forces and civilians, including the lynching of the couple who returned from a marriage proposal, during Operation "Guardian of the Walls" in Jerusalem.
 +
The judges, Solberg, Elron and Grosskopf decided that one terrorist who was sentenced to nine years in prison will spend two more years in prison and a second terrorist who was sentenced to six years in prison will spend another year in prison.
 +
The verdict describes the severe lynching of the couple: "On May 9, 2021, Shahar Miriam Cohen and Aviyah Antman - a Jewish couple, who on that day came in the engagement ring - were driving in their car from 'Beit Hoshen' (a building in the A-Tor neighborhood in East Jerusalem, where  Jewish families live) to the Beit Orot neighborhood (which is also located in East Jerusalem). During their journey, when the couple arrived at the A-Tor intersection, around 2:00 a.m., a crowd of rioters recognized that there were Jewish passengers in the car. Following this, the crowd began to run after the car, shouting  "Settler settler", while uttering curses and profanity.
 +
"Since the passengers of the car that was moving in front of the couple's car were standing on the scene, they chose to block the couple's path, and join the rioting crowd. And so, when the couple were sitting in their car, and could not drive away from the place, the crowd began throwing stones at the car.  This, he arrived at Rami's place, and hit the car window with his hand, until it broke. Aviyah, trying to defend himself, got out of the car, but then the rioters put their hands on him, and began to lynch him; Aviyah was attacked and beaten in all parts of his body, including his head, with fists,  by kicking, as well as by throwing stones and other objects at him. One of the rioters, who has not been identified so far, even stabbed Aviyah in the back, once and twice, with a sharp object, causing him two stab wounds.
 +

 +
Nawaf, too, chose to actively participate in the criminal act, and hit Aviyah body using a police checkpoint that was nearby;  Rami, at the same time, attacked Aviyah with kicks.  All this, while her father is lying on the floor, surrounded and attacked by an enraged mob," wrote the judges.
 +

 +
Judge Solberg noted that "there is no need to exaggerate the seriousness of the criminal actions of Nawaf and Rami. First and foremost, the brutal, violent and despicable act of lynching, which if the couple had not managed to escape the perpetrators - who will be saved after it."
 +

 +
The judge also wrote, "It seems that in our case, great weight should also be attributed to the severe damages that the adulterous grandfather and Rami, in their actions detailed in the first charge, caused to the couple, young men who did no harm to anyone from the enraged crowd, who chose to attack them with great cruelty. As emerges from the material placed before us, apart from the  The serious physical injury that was caused to her father, and which still accompanies him, also caused the couple a deep mental injury; the day of their separation - Kafesa was their disaster, and they were destined to experience during it a traumatic and extremely difficult event."
    +
Attorney Haim Bleicher from the Honenu organization who represented the couple said: "We welcome the acceptance of the appeal and the Supreme Court's statement regarding the need to make the punishment of the terrorists more severe.  In any case, and as written in the verdict, the punishment that the terrorists finally received does not constitute justice."
 +
"We expect the Jerusalem District Court to change their lenient approach and hand down significant sentences to the terrorists tried there. A terrorist who committed a lynching and also attacked the security forces on several occasions with lethal means must receive several years in prison for his actions, otherwise, how will we deter and prevent us or his friends  Repeat acts of sabotage and terrorism?", said Bleicher.
 +
The couple Abia and Shahar Antman, who were the victims of the lynching, told about him a few months ago in court.
 +
Aviyah focused on describing the difficulties that the couple had been going through since the lynching.  "As long as we do not know that our defendants have received their justice, then it is difficult for us to walk around Jerusalem. As long as they do not receive their punishment, we will not be calm. I expect the court to make the justice of the defendants who hurt me more severe."
 +
His wife Shahar described to the judge how their happy day turned into a traumatic event.  "It is about the event of our marriage proposal, an event that we have waited for and dreamed about all our lives. This event, instead of being remembered forever as the happiest event in our lives, will be remembered as a trauma."
 +
Shahar later said that the two carry the consequences with them to this day.  "Things we did not experience before the incident, fear and threat that we are experiencing. From this is also our request that the defendants in our case be punished to the maximum extent. There are also some of the attackers who have not been arrested to this day. We seek to deter them and others like them, so that they understand that this is something that does not pay off for them. We will be happy  That the court will take into account what we experienced and exhaust the law with them."</font></blockquote></ref>

Four of the accused are 22-year-old Ibrahim Merih, who was arrested the day after the incident;  19-year-old Muhammad Abu al-Hija, who was arrested a week later;  20-year-old Baha Abu al-Hijah, who was arrested after five more days;  and 18-year-old Muhammad Abu Rumi, who was arrested ten days ago.  The four of them confessed to the actions during the joint investigation of the Shin Bet and the North District District Attorney's Office, and Moriah and Abu Rumi even admitted that they had a nationalist motive.
 +
The other defendants are 19-year-old Mustafa Awad and Ahmed Merih, who denied their involvement and even claimed an alibi - but implicated each other in conflicting versions.  In addition to this, other people as well as the evidence in the case - incriminated the two.  For example, the prosecution claims that Ahmed Merih recorded in a WhatsApp conversation confirms that he will attend the riots that evening and even inquires with his friends which of them knows how to make Molotov cocktails.

The many respondents, including the residents of the city of Tamra and the Galilee, blessed those convicted of the crimes, Muhammad Abu Rumi, Muhammad Abu Al Hijah and Baha Abu Al Hijah and wished them that Allah would free them from the 'captivity' in which they are and return them to the bosom of their families.  In response to Nassar's news, the supporters asked to strengthen the spirit and faith of the young people of Tamra...

In June 2021, the Haifa district attorney's office filed indictments against six Tamra residents, for lynching a Jew who happened to be in the settlement and for willful vandalism in a vehicle for reasons of racism, rioting and attempting to attack a police officer under aggravated circumstances.  According to the indictment filed at the time, on May 12, 21, around midnight, Shir Alkalai, 49 years old, married and father of four, ran into the area.  He made his way from his job as a private gardener to his home in the nearby Mitzpe Aviv, with a large "Nachman MeUman" sticker on his car.  Due to the riots, the roads to the isolated settlement where he lives were blocked, and he took a detour through Tamra.  When he had to stop the car in the traffic he got into, one of the people on the spot approached him, asked him if he was Arab, and when he replied that he was Jewish - a man started shouting at him in a voice "Jew, Jew".  So they gathered around his car, threw stones at him from close range, and beat the car with kicks and punches.  The rioters pulled out Alkalai's work tools, including a rake, wooden sticks, scissors, an electric saw and an aluminum rod - and hit his vehicle with the tools, smashed his windows, hit him through the shattered windows and through the passenger door which they managed to open.  Again and again they tried to take him out of the vehicle in order to beat him, and he had to protect his head with his hands.
 +
According to the indictment, the defendants threw a stone at the window and beat Alkalai and one of them pulled his hair hard in order to get him out of the vehicle and end the lynching.  He was saved by some residents who took him to the intensive care van of the "El Zahraoui" company, which evacuated him in serious condition with serious injuries in all parts of his body to Rambam Hospital in Haifa.
 +
Since then they were accused and convicted after admitting to the indictment, the young men were under house arrest under electronic shackles but yesterday (Tuesday) they returned to prison after they asked to begin serving their sentence, which has not yet been completed, behind bars.  Attorneys Tami Ulman and Shadi Srugi, who represent the young men, advised them not to wait any longer under house arrest, until their sentence is heard, since this period of detention is not counted towards serving their expected sentence, but only actual imprisonment in the prison. The sentence in their case is expected to be determined by Judge Erez Porat in the district court in Haifa on October 23, 2022.
 +
Judge Porat is known for his lenient approach and the low sentences he hands down to participants in disturbances during Operation Guardian of the Walls. His rulings have been criticized more than once by Supreme Court judges who accepted the appeals of the prosecutor's office in several cases he discussed and determined that Porat exceeded his authority when he eased in punishment.</font></blockquote></ref>
