"He tells us that Souls exist and go to Heaven or Hell" - note that the SDA view is basically that there are no such things as souls or spirits, and when you die, you remain in the grave or stay dead. In that much, it is almost atheistic or materialistic. That is not Apostolic and historic Christian teaching, nor even Judeo-Christian teaching in the period before Christ's Birth. It therefore takes away much of the incentive to do great things for the Lord, in the hope of an immediate reward, such as Martyrs have. See this verse in St. Paul: We "prefer to be away from the body and at home with the Lord." (2 Cor 5:8). Here, the Apostle teaches that to be away from the body is to be at home with the Lord. This shows that Souls exist, survive the death of the body, and go to be at home with the Lord when the body dies, just as traditional Christianity, and indeed traditional Judeo-Christianity (apart from the heretical Sadducees) always taught.
